CYBER SQUAD
Description

The cybersecurity awareness game, Cyber Squad, is playable on the web from a public link. Mobile (iOS and Android) and desktop (Windows and macOS) versions will be launched later this year. Cyber Squad teaches lessons about phishing, your digital footprint, online safety and cyberbullying. A single player can navigate the full game experience, while multiple players can participate in the trivia portion. The player is given a score at the end of the game to rate their cybersecurity knowledge.

GAME SCENARIOS

THE BIG TEST - PHISHING

The player meets her friends at school and they gossip a little, then the player decides what they want to do: go home and chat with her friends, go to the Mall and hang out, or stay at the School and hang out in the gym. In each of the locations, Use Cases of phishing will be encountered with decisions by the player about what to do. Silently, the game will note the right and wrong decisions and give a score at the end of the storyline.

THE DANCE - DIGITAL FOOTPRINT

The player and her friends are going to the school dance. The homecoming king and queen are going to be crowned at the end of the night and there’s a chance the player will be the queen. During the dance, the player will find out her crush, Joe, has committed some questionable online social media posts to posterity, and he might lose consideration for becoming homecoming king. The player can teach Joe the right thing to do and rescue his award from the principal. There’s also some drama with the player’s friends and she can decide to storm off and leave them at the dance.

NIGHT IN THE WOODS - CYBERBULLYING

It’s night time, and the player and her friends talk for a while and decide if they want to go out in the woods, walk around the neighbourhood, or watch a scary movie. All three storylines have their own branches, but eventually they take a walk in the forest where they meet up with Kate. Kate is dealing with a cyberbullying episode alone, and the player can give her advice to cheer her up and overcome the problem by reporting the kid who is bullying her.

CARNIVAL CRAZY - ONLINE SAFETY

The girls go to the carnival to have some fun. It comes to the player’s attention that her friend, Ashley, met a guy online and has been chatting with him for a few days. Camila and the player talk to Ashley about it and a decision is made where Ashley decides not to meet up with him, the player decides to text this guy herself, or Ashley decides to meet up with him while her friends are around. These three branches show different ways that this scenario can play out. In the end, Ashley is sad because she knows it was a bad idea to go overboard with a new guy she’s never met, and that in real life people sometimes are not who they sell themselves to be online.

Cyber Squad is compatible with Chrome, Safari, Firefox & Opera.
